Jonathan co-founded SDCL and is its CEO. He has 17 years’ experience in international financial markets, involving investment in infrastructure, real estate, private equity and listed securities. He launched SDCL’s energy efficiency business and contributes to government initiatives on energy efficiency in the UK and overseas.
Gordon PowerChair, UK Investment Committee
Gordon has over 30 years’ of private equity experience and is a private equity investor in his own right.
Prior to his current commitments, he founded and was CEO of the private equity business ProVen Private Equity (now re-named Beringea) from 1984 – 2004 and led its buy-out from Guinness Mahon in 1997. By 2002 Proven specialised in media and intellectual property rights investments, had funds under management of $370m million including a range of highly successful venture capital trusts.
From 1984 to date, an overall annual return in excess of 29% has been achieved in 239 realised (i.e. sale, flotation or administration/liquidation) investments and unrealised investments. Gordon has an IRR of 45% from 23 sustainable private equity investments made since 1985.
Eli ShahmoonInvestment Committee, UK
Eli co-founded SDCL and has 24 years’ experience in real estate and infrastructure development, construction and investment.
Eli helped O&H Properties grow its business from a net asset base of below £5 million in 1988 to a diversified investment and development group worth in excess of £400 million.
He has achieved an average IRR of over 22% in the last 5 years.
Joseph MuthuGroup CFO and Portfolio Director, SDCL Group
Joseph is the Group CFO of SDCL and also responsible for investment and portfolio management of the UK Fund.
He has more than 20 years of energy industry experience having been a partner at a fund focussed on renewables across Europe and having held senior positions at Duke Energy Europe and Eastern Electricity.
Joseph has worked in the majority of the countries in the EU in electricity and gas distribution, generation and renewables.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has an Executive MBA from Warwick.
Miles AlexanderInvestment Director, SDCL UK
Miles is responsible for fund raising, originating and executing energy efficiency opportunities for SDCL.He has over 20 years of experience in finance, including energy efficiency, corporate and leveraged finance.
Prior to joining SDCL, he worked for the UK Green Investment Bank where he was head of Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency as well as having worked for the Green Investment Bank and Department of Energy and Climate Change fund investing into renewables and energy efficiency in India and Africa.
Miles has also worked at several other companies including General Electric, Tata and Ares.
Peter HobsonInvestment Director, SDCL EMEA
Peter joined SDCL in 2015 and has over 30 years’ experience in energy finance including project development and finance, policy dialogue and sustainable development issues in emerging markets.
Prior to joining SDCL he spent 20 years in the Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Team of the EBRD where he led on development of new products to finance sustainable energy projects in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. He has also been a programme manager for the International Institute for Energy Conservation – Europe and spent 8 years working for the investment bank NM Rothschild in London and Sydney where he specialised in financing natural resources and energy projects in Australasia, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
Peter holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and an MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University.
Purvi SapreInvestment Director
Purvi is responsible for developing, structuring and executing investments for the UK Energy Efficiency Investments Fund.
Prior to joining SDCL, Purvi has over 14 years investment experience in the UK and Emerging Markets, across a range of financing structures, including senior debt, mezzanine and equity. Purvi has transacted and managed assets across a number of renewable energy including solar, wind, energy efficiency and hydro projects.
Purvi is IMC qualified and holds a Master’s in Chemical Engineering with Environmental Technology.
Keith DriverPrincipal, SDCL UK
Keith joined SDCL in 2011 and focuses on financial advisory, capital markets, project development and fundraising projects in the renewable energy and sustainability space globally.
Keith has over 10 years’ experience in investment banking advisory, infrastructure and private equity funds, having previously spent six years as an investment analyst with Pantheon Ventures, a global asset management group, where his responsibilities included investment, fund formation, market research, portfolio management, valuations and marketing. Prior to this Keith worked for Close Asset Management Guernsey.
Keith has a BA (hons) in International Relations and International Security from Bradford University.
Nipun Narang, CFAInvestment Manager, SDCL UK
Nipun has eight years of experience working in energy and infrastructure sector.
Nipun has investment experience in infrastructure projects and companies in the UK and abroad. He has executed and managed structured investments and debt deals in multiple infrastructure sectors including renewable power, resource efficiency, telecom infrastructure, roads and ports.
Nipun is a CFA® charter holder, holds an MBA in Finance and Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Ben CameronInvestment Associate, SDCL UK
Ben joined the investment team at SDCL in September 2017.
Previously he was at PwC London for over 6 years, most recently advising on project finance and M&A transactions in the renewable energy sector. Prior to this he was in the Financial Modelling team having joined the firm in the Audit department.
Ben is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick.

Vassos KyprianouManaging Director, SDCL US
Mr. Vassos Kyprianou joined SDCL in April 2015.
Prior to joining SDCL he had a long career in banking of over 25 years, including 19 years with Citigroup, where he held positions in originating and managing investments in a broad array of assets and industries including energy efficiency, shipping and rail.
He has an MBA from Columbia Business School.
David MaxwellManaging Director, SDCL US
David is responsible for originating, developing, negotiating and structuring new opportunities for SDCL’s energy efficiency project investment funds in the US.
Prior to his position in the US, David was responsible for developing, structuring and executing a series of investments for the UK Energy Efficiency Investments Fund, managed by SDCL. David was also the sole advisor to the Ingenious Energy Efficiency EIS Fund which reached full deployment in 2014.
David has delivered a range of energy efficiency projects involving a variety of technologies across a number of investment sectors (retail, hospitality and leisure, education, industrial, data centres and health care) and maintains strong relationships with a wide network of introducers, developers, contractors and Hosts in the energy efficiency market.
David holds a Masters in English and Italian from Edinburgh University and a post-graduate Masters Degree in Media & Communications from the University of London.
Ned DavisManaging Principal
Ned oversees SDCL’s New York subsidiary, Sustainable Development Capital, LLC, a broker-dealer registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and a member of FINRA and SIPC.
Ned also serves as Financial Officer for SDCL’s New York based alternative investment entities.
SDCL LLC focuses on effecting private placements of securities in the U.S., with related advisory, analysis, capital raising and sourcing of projects and partnerships.
Prior to joining, Ned was co-founder and Chief Investment Officer for the strategic equity investment advisory firm North River Capital LLC, and previously had served as Managing Principal of Taconic Capital Group Inc., an equity research securities firm, which he sold in 2011. In the 1990’s Ned was a partner and Senior Vice President for Lazard Freres & Co., and earlier for Oppenheimer & Co. At both firms he specialized in research and investment banking services related to technology services companies, REITs and non-bank financial companies. Ned holds FINRA registered licenses to serve as a managing principal, securities analyst, FIN-Op, and Investment Banker. He is a cum laude graduate of Williams College and received an MBA with distinction from Harvard University.
David HourihaneManaging Director, SDCL Ireland
David heads up SDCL’s Irish investments business, having opened our Dublin office in September 2013.
Prior to joining SDCL, he was recognised as one of Ireland’s foremost cleantech lawyers and, as a former partner in a number of top law firms, worked with leading clients in the energy, energy efficiency and cleantech sectors.

Aine joined SDCL from Europe’s largest cleantech investment group and has a background in investment banking and equity capital markets.

Brian HastingsInvestment Manager, SDCL Ireland
Brian joined SDCL in 2015 and is an Investment Manager and qualified Chartered Accountant. Brian trained with KPMG and has worked in the energy and construction industry in both Ireland and Australia.
Peter LauDirector, SDCL Asia
Peter has over 16 years’ experience encompassing Project Investment, Private Equity and Finance.
He focuses on origination, evaluation, execution and management of investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the Asia-Pacific region. He currently manages the financing programme with The Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and has already closed a number of transactions in the manufacturing sector.
Before joining the SDCL’s Asia office, he was based in the London office focusing on the execution of a number of UK based transactions. Prior to joining SDCL, he was an investment professional in the Global Special Opportunities at HSBC Principal Investments focusing on renewable energy and clean technology. Peter was involved in a number of HSBC’s investments including a fuel cell manufacturer, a solar panel manufacturer and an electric car infrastructure services company. He managed HSBC’s renewable energy portfolio companies.
Peter is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He holds an MBA with distinction from University of Southampton (UK). He is also a Council Member of Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore.
Kim Dek YeoBusiness Development Manager, SDCL Singapore
Kim Dek has 9 years of experience in the sustainable energy industry focusing on energy efficiency and renewable energy. He leads the business development for SDCL in South East Asia with a prime focus in Singapore.
Prior to joining SDCL, Kim Dek has carried out energy audits, developed and evaluated energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the Southeast Asia region while working at Asia Carbon, one of the accredited energy services company. He has worked at the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), a non-profit industry association supporting the national SME Energy Efficiency Programme and helping Singapore companies explore partnerships and opportunities in Singapore and the region.
Kim Dek graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering majoring in energy and is a Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM).
Katarzyna PukaGroup Financial Controller, SDCL Group
Kasia is the Financial Controller for the Group.
Prior to joining SDCL, Kasia was a member of the Client Services team at Augentius Fund Administrators where she gained experience working on a range of private equity funds.
Kasia graduated from the University in Poland with Master degree in Accounting and Taxes and is qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) with over eight years experience in financial reporting and accounting.
Olivia KentExecutive Assistant and Office Manager, SDCL UK
Olivia joined SDCL in August 2013 and acts as Executive Assistant to the CEO Jonathan Maxwell as well as Office Manager in London.
Olivia is responsible for the organisation and coordination of office administration and in the scheduling of external meetings. She also provides invaluable support to both the investment and advisory teams where required.
Olivia works closely with the New York, Dublin and Hong Kong offices and is the first port of call should you have any questions regarding the company or would like to get in contact with a member of the team.
Victor ChuChairman of First Eastern Investment Group and Director of SDCL (Asia)
Mr. Chu founded First Eastern and is its Chairman. A UK trained solicitor and expert on China and regional investments. Formerly a Director and Council Member of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and adviser to the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. Mr. Chu is a Member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum in Geneva.
Elizabeth KanManaging Director of First Eastern Investment Group and Director of SDCL (Asia)
Ms. Kan has been a founding member of First Eastern since it established in 1988. She is licensed with the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong.
Ms. Kan is a Certified Public Accountant (U.S.A.) and a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She began her career with the Hong Kong office of Arthur Andersen & Co. in the area of audit and business advisory services.
Peter ChanVice President of First Eastern Investment Group
Mr. Chan has over 20 years of experience in engineering, management and direct investment in the infrastructure, real estate and industrial sectors.
Prior to joining the First Eastern, Mr. Chan was the manager of the Sino Infrastructure Fund and a portfolio of power and real estate projects in which the fund invested. He is a Chartered Engineer in the UK and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. Mr. Chan is a member of the Hong Kong Securities Institute and a licensed person by the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
